Privacy policy

VideoMonk collects nothing. It has no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and no network access of any kind. The video and audio it handles are shown and played on your own Mac and go nowhere else.
Who this is
The app is developed and copyrighted by Mikhail A. Matveev (“the Developer”) and distributed on the Mac App Store by Elizaveta Fragner, Halskestr. 34 A, 12167 Berlin, Germany (“the Publisher”). The camera and the microphone
The app asks for camera access so it can show a picture, and microphone access so it can play a chosen audio input through your speakers. macOS treats capture devices — USB and UVC cards, HDMI adapters, Continuity Camera — as cameras and their audio as microphone input, which is why those two permissions cover everything the app does.
Video and audio are processed live, in memory, on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is recorded in the background, and nothing is written to disk unless you press the button that writes it.
Files you create

~/Pictures/VideoMonk. - Recordings go to
~/Movies/VideoMonk.
They are ordinary files in your own folders. Nobody but you has access to them, and the app never sends, indexes or reports on them.
Settings stored on your Mac
So the app opens the way you left it, it remembers the selected source, the
resolution and frame rate per device, the audio input, volume and mute, the view mode,
the still format, the picture border, and the interface language. These are stored in
the app's own sandboxed preferences on your Mac —
~/Library/Containers/tech.rh1.videomonk — and are not personal data by
any sensible reading. Deleting the app removes them.
No network, no third parties
VideoMonk makes no network connections. There is no telemetry, no update check, no remote configuration, and no embedded analytics or advertising library. Its App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected, and that is not a technicality: there is no code in the app that could send anything anywhere.
If you download the app from the Mac App Store, that transaction is between you and Apple and is covered by Apple's privacy policy. Apple reports sales to developers only in aggregate — figures and territories, nothing that identifies a person.
This website
These pages are static files. There are no cookies, no analytics, no trackers, and no third-party requests — the typefaces are served from this domain rather than a font CDN. The hosting provider may keep ordinary server access logs, which is the same floor every web server operates on.
Your controls
- Camera and microphone access can be revoked at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Revoking the camera leaves the app with nothing to show; revoking the microphone only removes audio.
- Stills and recordings are yours to keep, move or delete in the Finder.
- Deleting the app takes its settings with it and leaves your saved files alone.
Because nothing is collected, there is no data of yours for us to hand over, correct or delete on request — a request under GDPR, the CCPA or any comparable law would find nothing on our side to act on.
Children
The app is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If a future version ever needs to send something off the device — it has no such plans — this page will say so before that version ships, with the date above updated and the App Store privacy label changed to match.
